Generous presentations made to South Mayo Branch of MS Ireland

At the Christmas lunch of the South Mayo Branch of MS Ireland, two cheques were presented to the organisation to help them in their work of supporting people with MS in the area.

A cheque for €5,000 was presented by Melissa Hoban and her mother, Lynn, on behalf of the Curiosity Shop, Westport.

They have been great supporters of branch, contributing over €3,000 a year over the last few years and upping it to €5,000 this year.

Also pictured are Liam Cannon, branch chairperson, Yvonne Corrigan, deputy secretary, Louise Power, committee member, Duncan Pratt, vice-chairperson, and Carol Millington-Pratt, secretary (seated).

A cheque of €1,470 was presented by Breda and Eugene Delaney on behalf a community group in Brickens.

Their daughter, Joanne, has MS and it is she who led the local community to clean up an old, disused roadway as an amenity and who initiated the Halloween Spooktacular Walk.

This is the third year that they have donated the proceeds to the branch

CHRISTMAS RAFFLE

Christmas would not be Christmas without a raffle in Liam Cannon’s Vegetable Shop in Castlebar.

This year, another crib is there to be won.

The knitted figures in the crib were made by Pauline Keen and the crib itself by Mark Everard.

In addition, there are also two 'diamond paintings' of the Nativity.

Raffle lines cost €2 each, or three lines for €5.

First prize is the crib, with the “diamond paintings” as second and third prizes. Proceeds of the raffle go to the local branch of MS Ireland.

The draw will take place on Saturday, December 24.
