Castlebar Credit Union set to open new banking hall
CASTLEBAR Credit Union's new banking hall will open to the public for the first time tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.
The main building contractors were MVS Construction Limited and phase two of the project will now get underway in transforming the former public area into offices. The floor space has been increased by 1,090 square metres.
The landmark coincides with the 50th anniversary of the credit union movement in the county town with a special day of celebrations planned for Market Square on Thursday.
To mark the occasion, The Connaught Telegraph carries an eight-page supplement in this week's (May 3) issue which outlines the remarkable strides Castlebar Credit Union has made since being set up in 1966.
Castlebar Credit Union has 30,000 members, five branch offiuces and €180 million in assets, making it one of the largest community credit unions in Ireland.
