Post-mortem on man found dead in Charlestown
THE Deputy State Pathologist, Dr. Michael Curtis, is due in Castlebar this afternoon to carry out a post mortem examination on the remains of a man found dead in his flat in Charlestown over the weekend.
The deceased is understood to be a Polish national who had been living in the east Mayo town for some time and had been working for a number of years as a mechanic based in Swinford.
He has been named locally as Zdzislaw Sokolowski (54).
His remains have been removed to Mayo University Hospital for the post mortem which will take place later today.
Gardai say they are keeping an open mind on the death.
The upstairs flat at Main Street, Charlestown, has been preserved by gardai for technical examination.
