No suspicious circumstances regarding Mayo death, gardaí confirm

GARDAI in Mayo have confirmed that a local man, aged 59, has been found dead in Swinford this morning.

He was discovered by a number of people shortly after 7.30 p.m. in the vicinity of the local municipal district offices in the town.

The emergency services were called to the scene where efforts were made to resuscitate him but proved unsuccessful.

The family of the deceased has been informed.

His body was removed by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar where a post mortem examination is due to take place.

Supt. Gabriel Moran, Claremorris, confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances and a file will be forwarded to the Coroner's Office in due course.
