Garda investigations into fatal Blacksod crash continuing

A YOUTH killed in a single vehicle road accident on the Mullet Peninsula yesterday evening hasn’t been named yet by gardaí pending notification of all relatives.

The 18-year-old was involved in a collision near Blacksod when the car he was driving left the road and collided with a wall. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred at about 5.40 p.m.

Another youth who was in the car was hurt but his injuries are said to be not life threatening. The front seat passenger was taken in an air ambulance to Mayo General Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries at the moment.

The road where the accident occurred is still closed as an examination by forensic crash investigators continues.
