Moran and Dillon return to Mayo starting line-up
MAYO senior football manager James Horan has announced his team for Sunday’s Connaught championship final against Galway at MacHale Park, Castlebar.
The team shows four changes to that which lined out for Mayo’s semi-final victory over Roscommon last month.
Chris Barrett will make his first competitive start since last year’s All-Ireland final clash with Dublin in place of the injured Tom Cunniffe at right-corner back. Cunniffe’s Castlebar Mitchels club-mate Barry Moran returns from injury to line out at midfield, with Aidan O’Shea moving to centre-half forward in place of his brother, Conor.
Seasoned campaigners Andy Moran and Alan Dillon impressed when they came on in the semi-final and both have been rewarded with a starting place for Sunday, the former at full-forward, from where he captains the team, and the latter at top of the left. Diarmuid O’Connor and Alan Freeman drop to the bench.
Sunday’s Connaught final at MacHale Park throws-in at 2 p.m. after the minor final between Mayo and Roscommon at 12 noon.
The full starting 15 is as follows: Robbie Hennelly (Breaffy); Chris Barrett (Belmullet), Ger Cafferkey (Ballina), Keith Higgins (Ballyhaunis); Lee Keegan (Westport), Colm Boyle (Davitts), Donal Vaughan (Ballinrobe); Seamus O’Shea (Breaffy), Barry Moran (Castlebar Mitchels); Kevin McLoughlin (Knockmore), Aidan O’Shea (Breaffy), Jason Doherty (Burrishoole); Cillian O’Connor (Ballintubber), Andy Moran (Ballaghaderreen), Alan Dillon (Ballintubber).
