Council seeks applications for music recording assistance grant
MAYO County Council is currently taking applications for the music recording assistance award. The closing date is Friday (October 24).
The award was established to support the recording of original music across all genres by musicians, singers and songwriters resident in Mayo.
The grant, which consists of two awards of up to €800, is aimed at assisting an individual or group who wish to record original music. In the case of choirs and orchestras, evidence of originality must be demonstrated – this might be achieved through new arrangements, etcetera.
This award is for new recordings only and only work in progress will be considered. No completed and packaged CDs can be funded. Charity or fundraising recordings will not be funded under this award. Applicants must be over 18 years of age.
Applications will assessed by an independent panel of industry experts and should be made on the music recording assistance award application form, which must include the following information: the musical CV of applicant; a sample of music to be recorded (maximum of three songs); a detailed breakdown of overall budget and how the award will be used; an outline of the purpose of the recording (Why are you recording? How will the recorded material be used?); an outline of how the group/individual will promote the recording; and any other supporting material which the applicant may think relevant to the application.
The closing date for receipt of applications is this Friday, October 24. Application forms are available from Mayo County Council’s arts office on (094) 9047558 or amcging@mayococo.ie, or you can log on to www.mayococo.ie for more information.
