Appeal for witnesses as garda probe weapon case
GARDAÍ are investigating an incident in Charlestown in the early hours of Sunday morning in which two young men sustained what are described as superficial skin injuries.
The incident, which involved a number of people, occurred at Main Street between 4.30 a.m. and 5 a.m.
Both of the injured men, who are in their 20s, were taken by friends to Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar, for treatment. They were both discharged later.
Gardaí were not made aware of the incident until later on Sunday and an investigation was mounted. Gardaí are trying to determine what kind of a weapon was used in the assault. It is not believed to be a knife but some other kind of sharp object.
