Us ambassador signals his intention to visit mayo

THE United States Ambassador to Ireland is hoping to visit Mayo next year.

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring, has met with Kevin F. O'Malley, US Ambassador to Ireland, who has strong connections with Mayo.

Kevin F. O'Malley is a second generation Irish American, from St. Louis, Missouri. His appointment was announced by President Obama in June. 

Ambassador O’Malley has Westport connections - his paternal grandparents were born in Westport.

Ambassador O’Malley, says Minister Ring, has agreed to come to Mayo in the near future.

Minister Ring commented: “I am delighted that Ambassador O’Malley intends to come to Mayo.

“Also, Ambassador O’Malley has indicted that next year he is going to bring a number of his family members back to Ireland to visit Mayo, the county of their roots.”
