Pedestrian has died in kilmaine road accident

A male pedestrian has died from injuries received last night (Sunday) in a road accident near Kilmaine. 

The accident occurred around 8.20 p.m. in the townland of Kilkeeran. The victim, who is in his seventies, was struck by a car.

He died later at Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar.

Traffic diversions are in operation this morning as gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the accident scene.
