Taoiseach to sign mayo book of condolences for paris victims
Castlebar Chamber of Commerce will open a book of condolences tomorrow morning (Monday) at 10 a.m. in memory of the people who lost their lives in Paris in the last four days.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny will be the first person to sign the book.
Castlebar, and all of Mayo, has a strong link with France, dating back to 1798, when General Humbert arrived in Kilcummin to help the Irish in their struggle at that time.
The Chamber is opening the book of condolences to allow Mayo people show solidarity with the people of France in their dark hours.
Because of Humbert’s connection with the town hall (Linenhall), the Chamber feels this is an appropriate place to have the book available. They encourage all to come.
The Chamber office will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Enda Kenny travelled to Paris this weekend to join President François Hollande and other European and world leaders at a rally in memory of those killed during last week’s terrorist attacks in the French capital.
