Victim of westport accident named

The man who died in a road collision outside Westport yesterday has been named as 67-year-old Matt Walsh from Knockrooskey.

Mr. Walsh died after he was struck by a car on a minor road at Knockakeery outside Aughagower at around 11.30 a.m. on Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and later removed to Mayo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 40s, was not injured in the collision.
