Garda changes in mayo

Superintendent Pat Diskin is to officially take over as Chief Superintendent of the Mayo Garda Division on March 9.

He will be replaced as Supt. in Castlebar by Supt. Joe McKenna, a native of Westport, who is presently based in Belmullet.

In other garda changes at senior level, Supt. Joe Doherty is to assume responsibility for the Ballina Garda District. For some years he has been head of the Claremorris Garda District.

Detective Inspector Michael Cryan, formerly based in Dublin, is being transferred on promotion as Supt. to Claremorris.

And Inspector Tony Healy, now based at the Bridwell Station in Dublin, has been promoted to the rank of Supt. and will take charge of the Belmullet Garda District.
