Woman dies in mayo road accident

 A woman pedestrian has died following a road accident in Co. Mayo this evening.

The woman, believed to be in her 50s, was walking on the N5 near Bohola when she was struck by a passing vehicle.

The accident occurred around 8 p.m.

Garda investigations into the accident have begun and traffic detours are in operation in advance of a forensic investigation of the scene.
