Is danny kirby the man to revive mayo
Castlebar Mitchels ace Danny Kirby has been handed the full-forward's jersey for Mayo ahead of their vital Allianz National Football League clash against Cork in Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday.
The managament team of Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly are looking to Kirby to revive the attack following a diappointing defeat at the hands of Dublin in Castlebar in the last round.
David Clarke, Ger Cafferkey, Tom Parsons, Barry Moran and Alan Dillon are recalled, the last named selected in the unfamiliar role of corner forward, while Alan Freeman has been dropped in favour of Kirby.
Donal Vaughan returns to the half-back line as Parsons and Moran make up a new-look midfield sector.
Missing through injury are Cillian O'Connor, Chris Barrett, Evan Regan, Seamus O'Shea and Tom Cunniffe, while Patrick Durcan is suspended after being red-carded in the Connaught Under 21 semi-final against Galway last weekend.
The Mayo team is: David Clarke, Ger Cafferkey, Kevin Keane, Keith Higgins, Lee Keegan, Colm Boyle, Donal Vaughan, Barry Moran, Tom Parsons, Kevin McLoughlin, Aidan O'Shea, Jason Doherty, Mark Ronaldson, Danny Kirby, Alan Dillon.
