Mayo gardai on house robbery alert
GARDAÍ in Mayo are investigating a spate of house break-ins in Westport in the first five days of April.
All of the houses were unoccupied at the time.
Two of the break-ins were in King’s Hill while the others were at Knappaghbeg, Sandyhill and The Fairways.
The first-break-in at King’s Hill on Wednesday last (April 1) occurred between 8.30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Entry was gained through a back window. Nothing was taken.
Entry to the second property at King’s Hill was gained by forcing a rear window.
A small sum of money (sterling) was taken from a house at Knappaghbeg. The owners of the property were away at the time.
Double doors were forced open by the culprits who broke into the house at The Fairways. A small amount of cash was taken.
