Breakin attempt puts residents on high alert

AN alert neighbour thwarted a break-in to an unoccupied house at St. Bridget’s Crescent, Castlebar.

The incident occurred around 9.30 p.m. on Saturday, according to the gardaí.

Three young men wearing hoodies were disturbed by the neighbour as they attempted to break into the building after breaking a double-glazed window at the rear of the house.

Gardaí would welcome information from anybody who spotted suspicious activity in the St. Bridget’s Crescent area around the time.

Reports are also emerging of a break-in at Knockthomas on the same night while a car was broken into at Tucker Street in the county town.
