Expected presidency no vote right decision
A GOVERNMENT minister has said today (Saturday) that he personally thought the expected ‘No’ vote nationally on reducing the age of the President was the right decision.
Michael Ring, the Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, stressed the importance of the Presidency, stating it was 'a very serious job', which a successful candidate would hold for seven years.
Speaking to reporters at the Mayo Convention Centre in Castlebar, Mr. Ring highlighted the large turnout of young voters, adding that for a referendum it had been 'a massive turnout'.
“People were exercised by the debate (on the marriage referendum) and it was great to see them coming out in such large numbers and voting,” Mr. Ring stated.
The minister predicted a 65/35 vote nationally in favour of a ‘Yes’ vote on same-sex marriage.
