Miraculous discovery in mayo ballot box

A PAIR of holy medals, tied together with a yarn of blue thread, miraculously found their way into one ballot box in the Mayo constituency during voting in the marriage equality and presidential age referenda.

They were photographed after being removed from amongst a sheaf of ballot papers at the count centre in Castlebar on Saturday.

There's no indication as to exactly what polling station the medals were deposited.
