Rua wins at irish restaurant awards
RUA in Castlebar has won the national Best Casual Dining in Ireland award at the Irish Restaurant Awards.
Over 800 restaurateurs and industry players turned out in black tie at the DoubleTree by Hilton last night (Monday) to celebrate their hard work and dedication at Ireland’s biggest ever restaurant awards.
A lavish six course gala was created by the top five chefs in Ireland who had previously won at the Irish restaurant regional awards. Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud took home the prize of Best Restaurant in Ireland and Mickael Viljanen of The Greenhouse was crowned Best Chef in Ireland.
Rua was named regional and All-Ireland winners in the Best Casual Dining award category sponsored by Total Produce.
Guests enjoyed a taste of Mayo at the awards, with the opening course of the evening's menu prepared by Frankie Mallon, An Port Mór, Westport, who served up Mary Regan’s Pork Belly with Apple and Kelly’s of Newport Black Pudding.
