Weekend weather to be a mixed bag

THE June Bank Holiday weekend weather in the west will be a mixed bag, according to Met. Eireann.

Tomorrow, Friday, will be cool, bright and rather breezy with sunshine and scattered showers, some heavy and with a slight risk of thunder for a time.

The showers will become isolated though as the day goes on. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees in moderate to fresh and occasionally gusty northwesterly winds, decreasing moderate later in the day.

Saturday will be generally dry, bright and rather mild, with light to moderate southerly breezes.

Nice sunshine around to begin, but increasing cloud will bring rain to Atlantic counties by evening, extending to all other areas during Saturday night. Highest temperatures 13 to 16 degrees Celsius, best values across the north midlands and east.

Sunday will be largely dry with some sunny spells, but there will be a few showers about too, most of which will affect west and northwest counties later. A cool day, with temperatures of just 11 to 13 degrees Celsius, in a mostly moderate westerly wind.

Monday will be wet and windy with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times. Again cool for the time of year with highest temperatures of just 10 to 13 degrees Celsius, with fresh southerly winds. Winds are likely to ease off later.

There is a strong signal for much milder weather to develop as of midweek next week.
