Status yellow weather alert in place
MET Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind and rain alert for Mayo and the rest of Connaught.
It'll be wet and very windy today, with rain spreading from the west to all areas, turning heavy in many areas, with a risk of flooding along with strong and very gusty southerly winds.
The winds will be strongest and the rain heaviest this afternoon. Winds could gust to speeds of 90 to 109 km/hr and will be strongest in coastal areas. Total rainfall of 25-40mm is possible.
It's not all bad news, though. Tomorrow (Tuesday) will be mostly cloudy and misty at first, with patches of rain and drizzle, but it will brighten up gradually, with sunny spells and just a few scattered showers.
The outlook for the rest of the week is, overall, a good deal of dry weather, with showers or relatively small amounts of rain at times also. Temperatures will be closer to normal than recently.
