Garda probe suspicious approaches in crossmolina
GARDAÍ in Mayo are investigating an incident in which ‘suspicious approaches’ were made to two children in the town of Crossmolina on Sunday evening.
The force is taking the matter very seriously and an appeal has been issued for witnesses to the occurrence that took place at around 5.20 p.m.
A garda spokesman told The Connaught Telegraph: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries in the area. Anybody who saw a black vehicle at the location at the time in question are asked to come forward with information.
'What we have established is that suspicious approaches were made to two local children. We don’t wish to cause any public alarm at this stage, but investigations are ongoing.'
Reports of the incident first emerged on a number of social media sites, leading to concern by parents throughout the north Mayo district.
