Books of condolences open for berkeley victims

BOOKS of condolences have opened this morning at Mayo County Council's offices in Westport and Belmullet for the victims of the balcony collapse tragedy in California.

The loss of the six Irish students in the university town of Berkeley in the early hours of Tuesday morning has been deeply felt in the west Mayo area.

One of the young victims, 21-year-old Eimear Walsh, was daughter of Westport native Patricia Walsh (McLoughlin), who comes from an old and highly respected Westport family.
