Mayo man who dies in holland is named
A YOUNG carpenter from Mayo, who has died after his car plunged into a canal in Holland, has been named as Tommy Gallagher, aged 35, from the townland of Rathnamagh, Crossmolina.
Mr. Gallagher, the father of a three year old daughter, has been living in the Amsterdam area with his Irish born partner for a number of years.
His car went into a canal on Monday evening around 7.30 p.m. but his body was not discovered until Tuesday evening after the alarm had been raised that he was missing.
Tommy is survived by his mother, Maureen, and three sisters and two brothers. He was predeceased recently by his father, also Tommy.
News of the tragic death has caused immense sadness in his native area. A number of family members have gone to Holland to carry out the sad task of arranging the repatriation of the remains.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been finalised.
