Bank holiday weekend set to be largely wet
WHATEVER your plans are this bank holiday weekend, chances are you'll be standing under an umbrella.
As if we haven't already had enough, Mayo is set to be largely wet in the coming days.
A cloudy, breezy start to Friday will see outbreaks of rain and drizzle across Atlantic counties, very gradually becoming widespread. The rain will turn heavy for a time in the afternoon across west and northwest counties. However, a clearance is likely before evening with some sunshine breaking through later, Met Éireann are reporting.
Saturday too will see a few showers for Ulster and west Connaught, some of which may turn heavy. It'll be generally dry elsewhere with sunny spells and light westerly winds.
Sunday looks like being a dull, wet day, with widespread rain, persistent and heavy at times, and rather windy too, especially later.
Monday's weather looks like being damp to begin with, with patchy outbreaks of rain. Though it will become quite breezy, it should pick up in late morning and remain dry for much of the afternoon with bright or sunny spells, warm even where sunshine breaks through. Highest temperatures will be 16 to 19 degrees Celsius, with best values over Ulster, west Connaught and north Leinster.
