Angle grinder used in raid

A GANG used an angle grinder to break into a safe at the National Car Testing (NCT) premises in Ballina early today (Friday).

However, their determined efforts brought little reward, according to gardaí, as there was only was a small amount of cash in the safe.

The thieves got into the centre, which is located on the Crossmolina Road, by breaking a window.

Gardaí say the break-in bore all the hallmarks of a very professional operation.

There were no arrests.
