Mcstay linked with roscommon gaa vacancy
RTE GAA analyst and former Mayo star Kevin McStay is being strongly linked with the vacant position of manager of the Roscommon senior football squad.
The Ballina-born ace guided Roscommon club, St. Brigid's, to the All-Ireland senior club title in 2013 with his former Mayo team-mate Liam McHale.
According to informed sources, McStay is the leading contender for the post following the departure of John Evans earlier this week.
McStay missed out on landing the Mayo role last year after James Horan stepped down, the job going instead to Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly.
McStay, who lives in Roscommon, is a former manager of the county's minor squad and is now the popular choice among supporters for the senior post.
The Roscommon County Board will appoint a committee next week to plan for the selection of a new manager.
