Rural crime appeal
A MAYO elected representative, whose daughter’s home was targeted by thieves, has called on rural communities to work together to curb the trend.
Councillor John Caulfield appealed to people to be on the alert to strangers involved in unusual activities in their areas.
He believes people should directly ask people they don’t know in rural regions who they are as he’s convinced that no visitor will mind if they have nothing to hide.
He has also called for cameras at key rural junctions to monitor the movements of vehicles.
The councillor’s daughter’s home was targeted by thieves during renovation works.
