Probe into mayo school fire
AN investigation is taking place into the cause of a fire at Lehinch National School in Hollymount.
The school is closed to students for a week as the extent of the damage is surveyed.
The students and teachers had to evacuate the premises yesterday when the fire started.
Nobody was injured and the fire service got the blaze under control.
The roof of the building was damaged and there is extensive smoke damage inside.
Local councillor Patsy O’Brien said there is great relief that nobody was injured in the incident.
