Family of missing fisherman in renewed appeal
THE family of the Erris fisherman missing for 11 days have appealed for volunteers to continue to assist in the search.
Twenty-three-year-old Daniel Doherty from Carrowtigue has been lost since September 11 after failing to return home from lobster fishing.
His ten-metre boat was located later that evening.
Up to 300 volunteers joined in the major search operation over the weekend, with buses bringing volunteers from across the county.
The search has included local fishermen, voluntary divers, Naval divers, the Irish Coastguard, Gardai, the RNLI, Civil Defence and Order of Malta, together with large numbers of locals and visitors who are combing the coastline.
Daniel’s parents said they’re grateful to everyone who has taken part in the search to date and are appealing to people to continue to assist with the ongoing search operation, which is being coordinated by the RNLI.
