High notes in castlebar
A 50-STRONG male voice choir from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, will perform at 8 p.m. this evening (September 25) in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.
The Canadian Orpheus Male Choir - known as ‘the men who love to sing’ - are one of Canada’s leading male voice choirs.
They have toured extensively, performing more than 460 concerts in venues such as the Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
But tonight's performance in Castlebar is one of only five concerts in Ireland this time around by the choir.
The Canadians will perform together with the Mayo Male Voice Choir to make it a special evening of song in the county town.
The Canadian Orpheus Male Choir members have raised over $800,000 for a number of service groups and charitable organisations, and this Mayo concert date is in support of Western Care Association.
Admission is €12 on the door, or you can purchase tickets in advanced from Downtown Records, Castlebar and Westport.
Meanwhile, the choir members will lay a wreath and perform at the Mayo Memorial Peace Park in Castlebar at 3 p.m. today (Friday, September 25).
