Mayo garda issue search message
GARDAÍ have issued a volunteer safety message in respect of the search for a woman who is missing in north Mayo.
Searchers are being asked by Supt. Joe Doherty not to approach ‘treacherous’ cliff areas in the vicinity of Downpatrick Head.
Also, ‘for personal safety reasons’, volunteers are being asked to notify the gardaí prior to any organised searches.
The missing woman is in her early 60s. Her empty car was discovered some days ago in the carpark at Downpatrick Head, a well known beauty spot.
Local farmers and landowners in the Ballycastle/Killala area are being asked to check their lands and outbuildings, especially along the coastline.
