Appeal for information in fatal road traffic collision

GARDAÍ in Ballina are appealing for information in relation to a fatal road traffic collision at Carrowntreila, Ballina, at approximately 6.30 p.m. yesterday evening (October 21).

A 20-year-old man was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road and collided with a tree on the old Ballina to Foxford road.

The sole occupant of the car, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to the mortuary at Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar, where a post-mortem is due to take place today.

Garda forensic collision investigators will examine the scene - approximately two miles outside Ballina - today and local diversions are in place.
