THE death has taken place of Vincent Jordan, Cloondeash, and late of Breaffy, Castlebar.
The deceased, in his early 70s, starred for Mayo at senior Gaelic football level back in the mid-1960s.
He played alongside such legendary Mayo GAA figures as John Morley, Ray Prendergast, Willie Loftus, John Gibbons, Mick Ruane, John McGuinness, Joe Langan and Pat Kilbane.
Vincent played his club football with Breaffy, a club of which he was very proud, and he retained a great love of the sport throughout his life.
He was a retired member of the staff of Eircom, Castlebar, and he was also an accomplished carpenter.
News of his sudden death at Mayo General Hospital came as a great shock to his family and everybody who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Beatrice, daughter Vanessa, sons Aldo, Dwayne and Kelvin, brothers Johnny, Mick, Kevin, Christy and Gabriel, sisters Geraldine, Rosaleen, Jo and Bridie, daughter-in-law Tara, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered. He was predeceased by his brothers Paddy and Brendan.
His remains will reposing at his residence tomorrow (Thursday) evening from 4.30 until 7 p.m.
Removal takes place on Friday morning at 10 o’clock to St. Aloysius Church, Breaffy, for Funeral Mass at 11 o’clock with burial afterwards in Breaffy Cemetery.
