Mayo students win Young Achievers Awards
MAYO students and friends, Aoibheann Mangan (8) and Padraic Godwin (9), have picked up Canavan Byrne Young Achievers of the Year awards at the eighth annual Boots Maternity & Infant Awards.
The two friends were recognised for their drive and motivation in setting up and creating a farm safety website for children, www.farmsafety4kids.net.
Hosted by RTÉ’s Today Show presenter Maura Derrane and TV personality Brian Ormond, the awards were presented at the Double Tree by Hilton, Dublin. They recognise inspirational people and outstanding childcare service providers, as well as commending and celebrating the very best products and services for parents and babies in Ireland.
Besides Aoibheann and Padraic, Mayo had another winner as Frances Burke, from Castlebar, was presented with the Mothercare Midwife of the Year Award for her outstanding care, patience and kindness.
Commenting on the awards, Gillian Henessey, head of marketing with Boots Ireland, said: “The awards commend the best products available on the market as well as recognising some of the most inspirational people in Ireland. The awards are about commending the hard work and dedication of parents, siblings, nurses and service providers and without these awards, their work would go unrecognised and we’re delighted to be part of that.”
