Boost for rural crime fight in South Mayo
CRIME prevention efforts in south Mayo are about to be boosted with the imminent posting of two Garda Sergeants to Kilmaine and Partry stations, respectively.
Sergeant Mark Crehan is to take up duty in Kilmaine on November 24.
On the same day, Sergeant Gerry Flannery will take up duty in Partry.
Both officers are currently based in Castlebar.
They are experienced members of the force and highly regarded.
Communities in Kilmaine and Partry have warmly welcomed the appointments.
There hasn’t been a sergeant in Kilmaine for a number of years.
The appointments have been made by the Mayo Chief Supt. Pat Diskin.
He says that both sergeants will bring huge value and experience to their respective areas of responsibility and 'will significantly enhance ongoing crime prevention strategies in respect of rural crime.'
