GNÓ Mhaigh Eo appoints new oifigeach forbartha
GNÓ Mhaigh Eo has appointed a new oifigeach forbartha (development officer). Daithí Ó Gallachóir, a native of Castlebar, joins the team and brings a new energy to the organisation, whose remit is to encourage the use of the Irish language in business in Mayo.
Daithí, a familiar personality around Castlebar, has a degree from NUIG in Irish, history and Irish studies and a post-graduate diploma in business and information technology from DCU.
He worked for years in the retail industry in Castlebar in well established menswear shop Padraic McHale’s and he also worked in Brown Thomas, Galway, while studying in NUIG. Prior to joining the Gnó Mhaigh Eo team, Daithí was working as educational manager in Coláiste UISCE in Béal an Mhuirthead.
Speaking about his appointment, Daithí said: “It’s great to be back working in Castlebar - níl aon áit cosúil le d’áit dúchais! I have gotten to know a lot of different business owners in the town over the past few years and I look forward to working with them in the future in promoting the Irish language.”
