Some wet days for the week ahead
IF you're fed up after a weekend of almost solid rain and wind in Mayo, you're set to suffer some more.
Met Éireann are forecasting more rain and wind for the week ahead.
This afternoon's wet and windy weather is set to continue into the night. Rain will clear eastwards followed by scattered showers, some heavy for a time, in the north and west. It will turn cold with lowest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees. Strong and gusty south to south-westerly winds will veer westerly, with clearance decreasing moderate to fresh in inland parts, though they will be strong to gale force and gusty in western coastal parts and in northern parts too by morning.
Tomorrow (Monday) will bring sunshine and scattered showers for a time, mainly to western and northern parts, and a few will be heavy. The showers will die away during the afternoon and it will turn cloudier in southern parts. It will be rather windy for a time, especially in northern and western parts.
Tuesday will start off dry. However it will become wet and windy as heavy rain spreads from the southwest to all areas along with strong, gusty southwest winds.
Wednesday will be another wet day as more heavy rain spreads northeastwards across the country.
Thursday will be a brighter day with sunny spells and scattered showers, though longer spells of rain will affect parts of Ulster and north Connaught.
Friday will be much colder, with temperatures only reaching between 6 and 9 degrees. There'll be sunny spells and scattered showers.
The forcast for next weekend is that it's set to be cold, with northerly winds. Day time temperatures will be in single figures and there'll be sharp frost at night. There'll be a good deal of dry weather and some scattered showers.
