Old Castlebar Photos goes viral

A NEW Facebook page showing old Castlebar photographs has attracted over 1,200 members in just over a week.

The page, entitled Old Castlebar Photos, was set up on November 13 by John Mee, St. Bridget’s Crescent, who has his own photography business and whose work features regularly in the pages of The Connaught Telegraph.

He did so to provide a forum for local social media enthusiasts to upload old photographs of interest and the response has been remarkable to date.

Said John: “I was not sure what kind of reaction it would get but it has taken off like lightening. Even in its short lifetime, it has become a valuable store of local social history. Hopefully it will continue to grow as more and more people start to use it.”
