Man charged with serious sexual assault in Castlebar

A MAN in his twenties has appeared at a special sitting of Castlebar District Court charged with an offence of serious sexual assault on a female at Tucker Street, Castlebar on Monday, November 16.

The accused, who is in his mid twenties, was arrested on Friday last by gardai and held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and later charged.

He was brought before Judge Seamus Hughes at a special court sitting on Saturday and was remanded in custody to Harristown Court (Castlerea Prison) on Friday next.
