Army lending helping hand today to Mayo flood victims
THE Irish Defence Forces are on the ground in Cong, Ballina and Foxford providing support to Mayo County Council on flood defence works.
Their help is greatly appreciated.
The council's update for today (Sunday) in respect of road closures is as follows.
Ballina Municipal District
LS5361 – Green Road, Foxford – Road closed.
LP1106 – Rakestreet to Keenagh – Road closed.
Errew Abbey road flooded but passable with care.
Castlebar Municipal District
R315 - Lahardaun to Pontoon Rd at Browns Bay is down to one lane with traffic lights. Drivers should approach with caution.
L16011 - Road from Finney to Glemteigue (Tourmakeady) closed, bridge is damaged by floods.
L16039-L26031- Aghanish Road is passable with care. The lake levels are over the road.
Claremorris Municipal District
R334 – Ballinrobe to Headford – Road closed at both The Neale and Cross - Use N84.
R345 – Cong to The Neale – Is passable with care – (Note R334 closed both direction from The Neale).
R346 – Cong to Cross – Is passable with care, Cross to Headford is open.
Drivers of HGVs travelling to Cong or Clonbur please only use the R334 road via Headford. The local roads in the Cong area are not suitable for large vehicles.
L1612 and L1613 – Ballinrobe to Clonbur – Road Closed.
L1611 – Ballinrobe to Roundfort – Road Closed.
One way system is in place in Cong village.
West Mayo Municipal District
L1813 – Cashel Road – Link road from N5 at Cloggernagh East to R330 at Mace – Road closed and is likely to remain closed for a number of days.
