Drone camera captures magic of Mayo

IF you've forgotten just how beautiful County Mayo is, you're about to get a reminder.

Air Pix Ireland have some stunning drone footage on Vimeo featuring Doolough, between Louisburgh and Leenane.

Doolough is a place of great poignancy for Mayo people as the site of the Great Famine tragedy of 1849, which is commemorated by a plain, engraved stone cross at the roadside along the lake.

Forced to walk 20 plus miles in bad weather from Louisburgh to Delphi Lodge to attend an inspection and get famine relief, it is estimated that more than 400 people died at Doolough on the journey.

Doolough itself is one of Mayo's most majestic sites, and one of the first places visitors on the Wild Atlantic Way encounter on entering the county.

Air Pix Ireland feature drone footage of landscape, buildings, etcetera, from all around the country, so check them out.
