Mayo schoolgirl's kind Christmas gesture
WHEN a Mayo schoolgirl decided to give a gift this Christmas she chose to share her lovely locks with someone less fortunate than herself.
Nine-year-old Evangeline King went for the big chop and donated a sizeable 10-and-a-half inches of her hair to the Little Princesses Trust.
It will be used to make a wig for a child undergoing chemotherapy or suffering from alopecia, for example.
Evangeline is a pupil at Bohola National School and lives nearby with mum Claire and dad Alan. Her charity chop was double-edged as she put it up to dad Alan to have his hair coloured. Alan is now sporting a new blonde ‘do’ for the Christmas. Apparently he’s been told more than once that he should be in a boyband with his new look.
Evangeline and Alan visited Eileen’s hair salon in Swinford for their hairdos, which to date have raised an amazing €1,000 for the UK and Ireland charity.
