Beware of opportunist thieves, Mayo gardaí warn

 

A FATHER lost all his Christmas shopping to opportunist thieves in Castlebar.

The victim loaded his boot from a trolley at Tesco and then returned the trolley to the supermarket door.

But he neglected to lock the boot and when he returned his cache of festive supplies had vanished.

Gardaí say that no doubt the victim was being watched and the thieves could be on the lookout for further ill gotten gains during the coming days when sales fever will be at a pitch.

Lock your cars at all times, warn gardai, don’t leave valuable items visible in vehicles, and beware of pickpockets who can be especially active at this time of year.
