A wet and frosty start to the New Year in Mayo is forecast
RAIN, rain and more rain.
That is Met. Eireann’s forecast for Mayo over the next four days.
Further showers are on the way this afternoon, some heavy with a risk of thunder and turning wintry on high ground.
Showers will continue for a time early tonight but will gradually die out overnight and it will become mostly dry with clear spells apart from a few isolated showers along the coast.
There will be a frosty start to New Year’s Day with bright spells.
However, cloud will increase in the morning and south to southeasterly winds will strengthen.
Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will become heavy and persistent around noon and spread to all parts in the afternoon and evening.
Saturday and Sunday will bring more rain.
