Castlebar Mitchels await venue ruling

THE GAA’s fixtures committee has scheduled a meeting for Tuesday, January 12, to decide the venue for Castlebar Mitchels’ All-Ireland Club SFC semi-final against Crossmaglen on Saturday, February 13.

It is understood three venues are in contention to host the prestigious fixture - Páirc Tailteann, Navan, Breaffni Park, Cavan and O’Moore Park, Portlaoise.

In their previous penultimate round clash in the competition two years ago, Castlebar played and defeated Dr. Crokes of Kerry at Portlaoise.

There had been some speculation locally that Parnell Park, Dublin, was under serious consideration as the venue. But sources have confirmed that such conjecture was unfounded.

A final decision will now be made next Tuesday week, after which Mitchels supporters can start making their travel arrangements
