Arrests made following Ballina burglaries
GARDAÍ in Ballina have arrested two men in connection with burglaries that took place at two houses at Foxford Road in the town last night.
The men were detained for questioning today under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Ballina Garda Station.
Gardaí revealed a significant quantity of property was recovered after the arrests, while a car was seized.
They are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of the Iron Bridge, just off the Foxford Road into Ballina, between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. last night and noticed any persons or suspicious cars in the area to contact Ballina Garda Station at (096) 21422.
Superintendent Joe Doherty has thanked the general public for their assistance in the case to date and in particular to the local community watch scheme.
He is encouraging people who notice anything suspicious in their area to immediately contact the gardaí.
He explained last night's garda operation was part of Operation Thor – a national garda operation that focuses on burglaries.
