Thomas Joyce has taken the sport of table tennis by storm

THE Connaught Telegraph's Young Sports Stars of the Year 2015 award winners, Number 1:  Thomas Joyce (table tennis).

At just 12 years of age, Thomas Joyce has already tasted success on the national and international stage in table tennis.

A product of the Mayo Table Tennis Academy, on his first appearance at a Six Nations Championship event in Jersey he secured a runners-up place.

His list of achievements is quite impressive, claiming provincial championships in Ulster, Connaught and Munster, some well above his age category.

Thomas has won two national junior titles and represented Ireland at the Mini Cadet Championships in Budapest in January of 2015, while he has also participated in the primary schools Six Nations Championships in Blackburn and looks set for further success in 2016.
