Healy Mac's to open in Spain
THE founder of the Healy Mac’s chain of Irish bars and restaurants is to open an outlet in Spain in March.
Liam Healy, a native of Glenamoy, opened two new Healy Mac’s bars in Malaysia last year and one in Indonesia.
He also saw one of his bars in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, named Best Irish Bar in the World (outside Ireland) by the Irish Times and Diageo.
In addition, Liam brought the famed Irish hospitality back home to his native Mayo with the opening of Europe’s first Healy Mac’s Irish Bar and Restaurant at Breaffy House Resort, Castlebar, a resort he purchased in 2014 with other Irish businessmen.
Now, it looks as though 2016 will be another exciting year for the ambitious entrepreneur with the Healy Mac’s chain set to expand further into Europe. In recent days, Liam announced plans to open the latest outlet in the famed multi-award-winning international chain in Spain this coming March.
The Erris man – who also owns O’Brien’s Bar in Churchtown, Co. Cork – noted that he has been keeping an eye out for a property in Spain for some time now and is thrilled to have found such a perfect location.
“I’ve just signed the paperwork for the latest Healy Mac’s Irish Bar and Restaurant in Spain and I can’t wait to see it up and running. My plan is to open Healy Mac’s on The Marina in Estepona, near Marbella in Spain, in March. It’s a stunning location, overlooking the sea, and will seat up to 250 people. Like all the Healy Mac’s outlets, the focus will be on great food, drink and service,” he said.
